Explore Tradition and Look Within

For centuries, Fukui has been known for its rich tradition of artisanal industries, including works of art: visit a museum dedicated to elaborate dolls made of carved bamboo, or a large collection of traditional masks used in Noh plays. After seeing the exhibits, take a moment to watch artisans at work, and make your own with a hands-on workshop. Then, head to an old temple surrounded by an ancient forest, where you can learn about the teachings of Zen Buddhism, and try zazen seated meditation led by a monk.
