Ryusogataki Falls
A Towering Waterfall That Creates Its Own Rainbows
Ryusogataki Falls is located in the mountains of Ikeda, with water falling 60 meters down a rocky cliff. On sunny days, the spray of the water often creates a rainbow in the early afternoon. It is the only waterfall in Fukui to have been selected as one of Japan’s 100 finest waterfalls by a specialist organization.
Visitors can get close to the base of the waterfall, to experience its scale firsthand. It is surrounded by greenery in spring and summer, and red leaves in autumn. In addition to the view from the bottom, there is a stairway up to an observation platform, to see the waterfall from higher up.
Ryusogataki Falls is most easily accessible by car, and parking is available nearby. Access to the waterfall closes from late November through the end of March.
