Wakasa
Wakasa Wada Beach
Relax with a Day at Asia’s First Blue Flag Beach
Wakasa Wada Beach, near the southwestern tip of Fukui, is a popular summer destination for its soft white sand and shallow, clear blue water. The beach offers peace of mind, as well, with lifeguards on duty during swimming season. This was the first beach in Asia to receive the prestigious Blue Flag Beach certification, for its safety, high quality, and environmental sustainability.
Toilets, showers, and changing rooms are available, and visitors who need a beach wheelchair can borrow one for free. There are over 20 shops along the beach that sell snacks and meals, and they provide rentals of lifejackets, sun parasols, floating swim toys, straw mats for relaxing on the sand, and even boats.
Paid parking is available for visitors coming by car. For visitors coming by train, the beach is roughly a ten-minute walk from Wakasa-Wada Station.
