Yukemuri Yokocho

Yukemuri Yokocho (“Steam Alley”) consists of ten small restaurants, all located across the street from Awara-Yunomachi Station. Each one serves a different specialty, such as homemade sausages, ramen, chicken, or even French food. These restaurants are a popular destination at the end of a day in Awara Onsen, to get dinner and drinks, or a late evening snack after having dinner at a hot spring inn.

All of the restaurants are open for dinner hours, from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m., and some of them get started earlier or stay open even later. Red lanterns hang in the corridor outside, creating a friendly, old-fashioned Japanese-style atmosphere for visitors. Each one of these restaurants has just a handful of seats, for an intimate atmosphere—perfect for chatting with the chefs and other customers.
