Tsuruga Red Brick Warehouse
Historic Brick Buildings with a Giant Diorama and Fine Dining Inside
The Tsuruga Red Brick Warehouse is a facility consisting of two historic brick buildings. One of the buildings serves as a museum showing the history of Tsuruga, with a 27-meter-long diorama that depicts the city as it was in the 1940s. The other building features a café and restaurants—one of which has been listed in the Michelin Guide.
These warehouses were originally built in 1905 for use at Tsuruga Port, and in 2015, they were renovated into a tourism facility. The buildings were originally used for petroleum storage. Over the years, they were used as warehouses for various other purposes, including military supplies and kombu kelp.
