Finely Detailed Works of Art, Crafted from Natural Bamboo

Echizen Bamboo Doll Village is a museum dedicated to Fukui’s traditional bamboo dolls, and other works of art made from various types of bamboo. Visitors can explore a collection of figures made by experts, with body parts carefully carved from bamboo, and distinctive hair made from thousands of finely split bamboo fibers. On many days, visitors can see bamboo craft artisans at work. Hands-on craft workshops are available, to make items like dolls or propeller toys from bamboo.

The museum’s gift shop offers a wide selection of bamboo crafts at a variety of price points, as well as items such as local sake.
