Uriwari no Taki Falls
A Waterfall Fed by a Delicious, Ice-Cold Natural Spring
Uriwari no Taki Falls is located near Obama, known for a delicious natural spring that produces cold water all year round—consistently 13°C, even in summer. Unlike most famous waterfalls, it is wide and low to the ground, spreading out into pools and tiny rivers as it flows down the rocks.
For many years, this spring’s water has been renowned for its quality, winning second place in a national competition of best tasting natural springs. The water’s taste comes from slow natural filtration through many layers of soil, and its high mineral content. There are faucets near the waterfall’s parking area, where visitors can fill bottles with natural spring water to take home.
The waterfall is just a short walk into a peaceful forest of tall Japanese cedar trees. The nearby seating area is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sounds of nature.
