Matsunaga Rokkan is a compact Japanese-style inn, surrounded by mountains. The inn aims to provide a Zen-influenced retreat from busy everyday life, giving guests a chance to look inward, and to connect with nature and the local area.

In the morning, Matsunaga Rokkan guests are invited to visit the nearby Myotsuji Temple, for meditation before breakfast. The inn offers various other experiences, as well, including shakyo sutra-copying, bicycle excursions, picking vegetables to use in dinner, and traditional woodworking.

The dinners and breakfasts served here are prepared in an innovative style, which combines the traditional principles of plant-based shojin ryori Buddhist cuisine with fresh, unique new ideas.
