Nohmen Museum

An Up-Close Look at a Centuries-Old Performing Art

The Nohmen Museum (Noh Mask Museum) has more than one hundred masks on display, including many made by master artisans. The town of Ikeda is known as the “hometown of Noh” for the many old Noh masks that can be found here. Over the years, many Noh masks have been given to Shinto shrines in Ikeda as offerings, and these shrines have developed large collections.

On the second and fourth Sundays of each month, the Nohmen Museum offers mask-carving classes, held at the traditional house next to the museum (reservations required).
